Our villa is situated in the foothills of the impressive Montgo mountain, that stands at 754m tall. Known as the elephant, the Montgo lies between Javea and Denia. Why an elephant? If you look at the incredible shape of the mountain you will see it looks like an Elephants head with its trunk almost slurping at the Mediterranean sea. The mountain was formed during the Cretaceous period, some 70 million years ago, when plate tectonic processes forced the African and European continental plates upwards, creating spectacular mountainous landscapes such as that of the Montgo. You can climb the Montgo, which is considered a moderately challenging route, it takes an average of 3 h 40 minutes to reach the summit.

San Juan Festival (Fogueres de Sant Joan) is the fiesta of the bonfires held every June in Javea, Costa Blanca, #Spain. It was a dream break. The villa has something for everyone and easily accommodated us all with room to spare. The children enjoyed endless games of tennis and football when not in the pool. It is a safe and secure environment which meant that the adults could properly relax while the kids played. We made regular use of the outside cooking and eating facilities during the stay. Opting to alternate eating in at the villa with eating out at some of the excellent local restaurants. The old town is picturesque with plenty of tapas bars and independently owned shops. If you are brave enough to go for the hike, your efforts will be rewarded with one of the most spectacular beaches in our area. Welcome to Cala del Moraig beach, a playa in Javea. This stunning turquoise beach is one of the wildest beaches you will find in Costa Blanca, but also one of the most beautiful. The left area of the beach is for nudists so, if you are promenading by the shore be aware you might encounter some dangling surprises! How to get to the beach: The best way to get to Cala del Moraig is by car. Cala Moraig is, however, not for everyone, as, while the walk to get there is a short 10-minute walk downhill, the uphill hike back to the car is a completely different story! However, during the Summer months, there is a bus service from the parking area to the beach to spare you the walk uphill in the strong heat. If driving is not an option during the weekends of July and August, there is a bus service to the beach from Poble Nou de Benitatxell. #hiking #beach #stunningviews #coast #spain #javea
